Bezimeni Vrh – The Giant of Durmitor

Bezimeni Vrh (2,487 m) is the second-highest peak of Durmitor and one of the most impressive summits of the entire massif.

Together with Bobotov Kuk and Đevojka, it forms the spectacular high-mountain formation known as Soa Nebeska, a name often interpreted as the “Heavenly Altar” or “Altar of the Sky.”

Bezimeni Vrh rises dramatically above three remarkable mountain landscapes – Škrka, Valoviti do and Ališnica. Its massive limestone cliffs and rugged appearance give it an almost Alpine character.

A particular surprise awaits hikers at the summit: after the demanding ascent across rocky terrain, the top opens into a spacious grassy plateau, offering an ideal place to rest and enjoy the extraordinary panorama.

Route 1: Sedlo – Uvita Greda – Suvi Tavani – Surutka – Zeleni vir – Velika Previja – Valoviti do – Bezimeni Vrh

Ascent: approximately 2 hours 45 minutes

Descent: approximately 2 hours

Total: approximately 4 hours 45 minutes

Elevation gain: 580 m

Trail: Mostly marked; a shorter section towards the foot of Bezimeni Vrh is unmarked.

Route 2: Žabljak – Crno jezero – Zminje jezero – Crepulj poljana – Donja Ališnica – Gornja Ališnica – Velika Struga – Valoviti do – Bezimeni Vrh

Ascent: approximately 5 hours 15 minutes

Descent: approximately 4 hours

Total: approximately 9 hours 15 minutes

Elevation gain: 1,071 m

Trail: Mostly marked, except for a shorter section between Gornja Ališnica and Velika Struga.

View from Bezimeni Vrh

The panorama from Bezimeni Vrh is among the most spectacular on Durmitor. From the summit, hikers can look across Škrka, Valoviti do and Ališnica, surrounded by the dramatic high peaks of the massif.

Immediately to the east rises Bobotov Kuk, while nearby Velika Struga separates Bezimeni Vrh from Rbatina. Particularly impressive are the views towards Šareni Pasovi and the surrounding limestone peaks.

On clear days, the panorama extends far beyond Durmitor towards other mountain ranges of Montenegro, as well as Maglić and Volujak in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Best Time to Hike

The most suitable period for hiking Bezimeni Vrh is generally from May to October, depending on snow, weather and trail conditions.

Bezimeni Vrh is located within Durmitor National Park. The ascent involves demanding high-mountain terrain and sections requiring good orientation and mountain experience.
