Crvena Greda – The Red Ridge Above Jablan Jezero

This peak, located in the northern part of Durmitor, is also a vast expanse of dense juniper vegetation, the largest on Durmitor.

Crvena Greda is one of the most distinctive peaks of northern Durmitor and one of the natural landmarks overlooking Žabljak. According to local tradition, its name comes from the reddish colour its impressive limestone cliffs take on when illuminated by the rising sun.

The mountain is surrounded by extensive areas of dense mountain pine (Pinus mugo), among the largest such areas on Durmitor.

Its dramatic cliffs facing Žabljak are among the most recognisable sights of northern Durmitor. At the foot of the mountain lies Jablan jezero, a beautiful glacial lake surrounded by coniferous forest. The combination of towering limestone cliffs, green forests, and the tranquil mountain lake creates one of Durmitor's most picturesque landscapes.
