In addition to numerous local cycling trails, three national cycling routes pass through the Durmitor area.

Mountain Biking and Downhill

Durmitor offers exciting terrain for mountain biking, including downhill trails for experienced riders.

One of the best-known mountain biking events in the area is Durmitor Downhill Adventure, traditionally held on Štuoc at the end of August or beginning of September.

The downhill course is approximately 2 km long, with around 300 metres of elevation difference.

The route passes through forest terrain and includes roots, jumps, rocky sections and forest trails, creating a technically demanding and exciting course for downhill riders.

Durmitor Ring by Bike

One of the greatest cycling adventures in the region is a tour around the Durmitor massif along the famous Durmitor Ring.

The approximately 86 km route takes cyclists through some of Durmitor's most impressive mountain landscapes.

One of the highlights is the descent into and passage through Sušica Canyon.

Along the route, cyclists cross high mountain passes, ride beneath impressive peaks and experience dramatic changes in elevation – descending to around 600 metres above sea level before climbing to mountain passes at more than 2,000 metres.

The combination of challenging terrain, traditional mountain villages, open plateaus, deep canyons and spectacular views makes the Durmitor Ring an unforgettable way to discover the region by bicycle.

Due to its length, elevation profile and mountain conditions, the complete Durmitor Ring is best suited to cyclists with appropriate fitness, experience and equipment.
