Boljske Grede – 2091m

The harshest peak of Durmitor – the Bolja boulder, with its Boljske Grede, is one of the harshest and most difficult peaks to traverse in the Durmitor massif. The Boljske Grede are characterized by giant stone slabs, stepped, high rocky floors, narrow and furrowed grooves and cracks, the hollow openings of pits and caves, as well as juniper vegetation growing from the summer karst.

On the slopes of Bolje above the Komarnica canyon, linden and yew can be found in many places, while in the lower parts, dogwood and wild pear can be found. This is also one of the most important habitats for chamois and bears on Durmitor.

View from Boljske grede:

Boljske grede is a long mountain ridge that starts from the spacious and undulating Dobri dol, from where it gradually descends southwards. Boljske grede, with its entire length, overlooks the southernmost Durmitor valley, Komarnica, and represents a first-class viewpoint of the highest peaks of Durmitor from the south, while in the south, across the valleys of Dragišnica and Komarnica, rises Mount Vojnik.

Climbing season:

The most suitable period for climbing is from May to October. 

Protection and security:

Since there are no marked routes during the climb, it is recommended to go on this tour in the company of a hiking guide, it is advisable to leave early in the morning and choose good weather conditions.

The Bolja ridge is characterized by bare and dry peaks – Izmećaj, Bavin and Ogoreli Krš, from where Ravni Bolj and its slopes Čeoci, covered with mixed forest and pastures, extend southwards. Bolj is also one of the most important habitats for chamois and bears on Durmitor.
