Pošćensko Lake

Lake Pošćensko is located at an altitude of 1487 meters, and its maximum depth reaches 3.6 meters. It was created in the cirques of the village of Pošćenje during glacial erosion, which made this lake a significant geological phenomenon. Its natural beauty, surrounded by vast pastures and dense forests, has attracted the attention of numerous geologists, travel writers and scientists, as well as mountaineers and tourists who are fascinated by its landscape.

Not far from the lake is the peak of Stožina, which, although not high (1908 m), has a special place in the hearts of nature lovers and hikers. Stožina rises above the green areas of the Pošćenska Valley and is considered the “gateway” to South Durmitor. From this viewpoint, a spectacular panoramic view of many Montenegrin mountains, including Sinjajevina, the Moračka Mountains, as well as numerous peaks of Durmitor, such as Ranisava, Sedlena Greda, Uvite Greda, Šljem and Savin Kuk, is also visible from Stožina. Among them are Damn it!Fish, Žabljak, Njegovuđa, as well as Pošćensko Lake and Pošćenska Valley with its natural resources.

This location is ideal for anyone who wants to experience untouched nature, enjoy the view and explore one of the most beautiful parts of Durmitor.
